“One of the most important skills in competitive Pokémon is note-taking.” Through 15 years of tournaments, Wolfe Glick has developed a tried and true system for documenting the information revealed over the course of a match and making the best decisions possible.

There’s more than enough reason to believe him. Known online as WolfeyVGC, Glick is perhaps the most accomplished competitive Pokémon player in the world. He holds records for winning the most Regional Championships and the most appearances at the World Championships, where he won in 2016.

Glick also runs a YouTube channel with over 2 million subscribers, where he breaks down his strategy, shares his experiences at official tournaments, and shows players how to improve through what he playfully coined the “World Champ Difference.” The community is quick to give Glick his flowers for his role in popularizing the game. “I don’t know if I can think of an exclusively Pokémon content creator that has contributed more to Pokémon as it pertains to organized play,” said tournament organizer Kyle Littleton.

Glick’s expertise and inclusive spirit come together in the Difference VGC Notebook, which contains his personal note-taking system built into the layout of every page. Glick produced the notebook with Canadian merchandise company Juniper Creates, and he has been using it at real tournaments to test its effectiveness, including the Europe International Championshops (EUIC) in February. The notebook is accompanied by an exclusive walkthrough based on the 2025 EUIC, which Glick won.

“When I was competing in a tournament, it would take me forever to actually get it onto the page,” Glick said in a video announcing the notebook. “After a tournament where I was running late, I started thinking — what if I had a notebook that just had this great layout for note-taking already built in, so I wouldn’t have to draw it every single game?” While the notebook was designed with tournaments in mind, it also gives casual players a way to approach their games with the strategic framework used by Glick.

The notebook coincides with the release of Pokémon Champions, the new free-to-start title taking over Scarlet and Violet as the official game at major events starting next month. Champions aims to build upon the growing popularity of competitive Pokémon, a trend that’s driven in large part by creators like Glick.

The Difference VGC Notebook is available until April 26.
